MAN KILLED WHILE TRYING TO PROTECT HIS FAMILY IN RIVERDALE GA'S 1ST MURDER OF THE YEAR

Riverdale police are still trying to track down the person who shot and killed a man as he defended his family. The deadly shooting happened in the Brooks Crossing Apartment on Taylor Road late Thursday night. Police say the apparent home invasion happened around 10 p.m. According to police, David Rucker, his wife and family were together when the wife heard the blinds rattling and thought someone was at the back door. Rucker told his wife and three young children to lock themselves in the master bedroom while he went to see what was going on. After hearing a struggle, Rucker's wife says she heard one gunshot, then realized her husband, Davis, was face down on the floor.
