Kevin Garnett is returning to the Boston Celtics after considering retirement, according to multiple reports. The forward will receive a three-year, $34 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.
"The decision came down to whether KG wanted to keep playing," a source told the Boston Herald. "And once he decided that he did, it was going to be Boston. He wasn't going to leave Doc (Rivers) and those guys and play anywhere else."
The 36-year-old Garnett just completed his fifth season in Boston after 12 years in Minnesota. He averaged 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during the regular season but upped his averages to 19.2 and 10.3 in the playoffs.

SEVENTH WOODS: BEYOND HIS YEARS
College hoops recruiters already know who Seventh Woods is, and he hasn’t even started taking classes in high school. Woods, a 6-foot-2 eighth grader from Columbia, was the varsity point guard at The Hammond School this winter. In his first season of high school ball, he averaged 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 3.3 assists and 1.4 blocks.
Before Woods even stepped on the high school hardwood, he suited up for the Carolina Ravens U-17 AAU team last summer. He’s back with the Ravens’ U-17 team again this summer.
“The thing that helped him, playing with Brice Johnson and Travis Hammond, when he played with those guys last year in 17’s, it kind of set the tone of what he wanted to be, especially with Brice being recruited by everybody,” said Carolina Ravens coach Dion Bethea. “Once the kid saw all those college coaches in there, it was kind of like – ‘I want that to be me one day.’ I think that had a lot to do with it. “That kid is unbelievable.”
Indeed he is. Woods was in Clemson late last month to showcase his skills at the Big Shots AAU Tournament in Clemson, during which he averaged 18 points per game. It was the fourth time Woods has been on the Clemson campus. He visited twice last year. First, for the Brad Brownell Elite Camp, then again in the fall for a football game. His first basketball game in Tigertown was the N.C. State game in February.
“[The campus] is pretty good. I like it,” Woods said. Brownell and his staff have already made an impression. “My first time meeting with the coaches was at the camp,” Woods said. He added, “I like their coaches. They’ve all connected with me.”
He’s already visited two other schools -- South Carolina and North Carolina. Those two, plus Memphis, Texas and Maryland have also started to express interest in Woods. Despite the attention, Woods is able to stay grounded. “He’s probably is one of the most humble kids. He just wants to play the game,” Bethea said. Woods learned at a very early age how to handle being the youngest player on the court. “I’ve got four older brothers, so I’m used to it,” Woods said.

Why no early Sunday Tube service for Olympic Games?
As the Olympics looms ever closer and the London Underground gets covered in pink stickers pointing us in various directions to get to venues, I received an empassioned email from Lisa Stewart who's finding it will be impossible to get to the Games. This isn't due to an overcrowding or just because it's going to be uncomfortable but because of the lack of early Sunday services. Over to Lisa:
"Basically, why on earth are they not running trains as early on Sundays as they are during the week, when the same events are running with 8am starts? I've tried 4 different train lines from my area and none will get me to Stratford before 8.30am. I'm based on the Met line/Chiltern Line in Chorleywood. I looked at using Watford Junction station, I looked at driving to Stanmore to use the Jubilee line, but that doesn't start before 7am?! The Jubilee line, possibly the most used line during the Olympics, not starting before 7am on Sundays when events start at 8am. I feel utterly let down and ripped off!
I emailed the Olympic Contact Us site and just got an email back with a link to First Group, ie drive there! It says you have to get to the car park 90 mins before you get to Olympic Site, and to the Olympic site an hour before you need to get to your Venue, that totals 2.5hrs. The car parks don't open until 6am, the events start at 8am, so I can't even allow enough time! Has anyone done the maths on any of these timings?!
There is talk of starting the Sunday service 45 mins earlier, but that is yet to be confirmed, reflected, on the time tables (for my area at least) and is still not enough time, even if they do it.
It all seems so ill conceived, badly thought out and the left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing. I have tickets to shooting and diving too and quite frankly have lost my appetite for the Games altogether. I thought the whole idea was to discourage us from driving into town, but they are not providing suitable alternatives.
I have tried speaking to the Olympic helpline, and one lady, though very sweet, knew nothing! Said they hadn't had the timetables yet for the Underground, can that really be the case? Then why, oh why, am I bombarded with emails almost daily asking me to plan ahead, plan my transport, book my transport, when the timetables haven't even been released! I would dearly love to plan my journey, I've been trying to for over a month! I hope that common sense prevails and someone actually realises that you have to start the trains by 6am latest, preferably 5am, in order for people to have a fighting chance of getting to their events?
They should run the trains for the same week day hours all week, including weekeneds for the Olympics, the event times don't change, why should the train times. We may not need quite as many trains, since no rush hour to deal with, but we certainly need them to start as early. I naively thought, the Tube would provide an adequate service.

Killing Time in Arkansas
After baby Noelle was released to us, we had a week to ourselves to explore northwest Arkansas. While we were limited to how adventurous we could be because of our days old baby, we had never been to the area before and wanted to explore a bit.
We went to a touristy town in the Ozarks called Eureka Springs. Reminded me a bit of Jackson Hole. We went on a steam engine train ride.
Made some souvenirs
Went shopping
And this is where I saw the beautiful dress that Noelle wore for her blessing and sealing. We had a lot of fun and beautiful Noelle got a lot of attention everywhere we went.

When many heard that Geri Halliwell was designing a line for Next, we feared for the future of fashion. When we saw the results (Union Jack sequin mini-dress anyone?), it was even worse than we could have imagined. Still, it seems Geri may not be done with the fashion world yet.
During the photocall to launch Viva Forever, the long-awaited Spice Girls musical, Geri revealed to the press that she had made her outfit herself, with help from Emma Bunton with the hem.
Geri it seems is stuck in a time-warp where it's perpetually the 1997 Brit Awards. In case there's anyone out there who hasn't heard the story a 1000 times, Geri famously designed her Union Jack mini-dress (yes, like the one she recently designed for Next), herself the night before the awards, and got her sister Karen to stitch a tea towel onto the front of the dress she was originally supposed to wear. If we're playing Sesame Street, the word of the day would be "FAILURE".

In the intervening years however, the other four have grown up and moved on: Baby, who came dressed as Kate Middleton's engagement portrait, has her radio show; Scary, wearing Lanvin (let down by tattoo) is big in Australia where she is a judge on Dancing With The Stars and the X Factor when she's not mingling in Hollywood and recording a new album; Sporty, wearing a spot-on (excuse the pun) Acne dress, is a top West End star; and Posh, in one of her own designs and Tom Ford boots, is an award-winning fashion designer.
On a second note, when on earth is Posh planning to change her pause? Perhaps to include a tiny little *SMILE: :)

Remember Eva Longoria, the petite brunette from Desperate Housewives ? No? Well, she's been in loads of other things like, er, gosh, oh, you know… Still not ringing any bells? Well don't bother looking at the July issue of Italian Amica magazine, because whoever that South Pacific beach belle is staring out from the cover is, she looks absolutely nothing like Longoria.
Which is odd because the cover line - which incidentally appears to be parping out of the 'talent's' bottom - says 'Eva Longoria'.

The Oxygen Bag Reality: Surviving Parenthood by Being Selfish
Have you ever listened to the emergency instructions given by the flight attendant at the beginning of a flight? Most of us probably tune her (or him) out. Unless it's your first time flying. Then you follow along with the emergency pamphlet and everything.
There's always a line that goes something like this, "
In the unlikely event of pressure loss in the cabin, oxygen masks will drop from panels in the ceiling. Place the mask over your mouth and nose like this. Oxygen is flowing even if the bag is not inflated. If you are travelling with a passenger who may need assistance, put the mask over your face before helping others."
That is not the exact script, but my best guess at the moment.
I got to thinking about this.
It's kind of funny that we have to be reminded on every flight to help ourselves before we help others. Why is that? Because people are stupid? Yes, people are stupid, but that's probably not why. I have a feeling that if these words said what they really, really mean, the script would instead say something like this, "In the unlikely event of pressure loss in the cabin, oxygen masks will drop from panels in the ceiling. Place the mask over your mouth and nose like this. Oxygen is flowing even if the bag is not inflated. If you are a parent flying with your child, listen up. Put your mask on first. Then you can help your kid. You are no use to them if you are unconscious from lack of air. Plus, it will take you two seconds tops to put your mask on and you know it will take at least four minutes to help your child if they are under the age of five. Unless you have millions in life insurance and a sister-in-law you think will make a better mother to your child than you or your spouse, ensuring your continued existence is actually helping your kids."
Of course when it comes to federal messages, they are never that direct are they?
Parents tend to put themselves last.
I am now the parent of two children. I find myself sacrificing twice as much.
Beautiful picture but deceiving. Most days I don't even put on pants let alone do hair or makeup. Or eat.
I found myself thinking of the "oxygen bag reality" about two weeks ago when I was feeding and rocking baby Noelle at 10 p.m., sobbing because I hadn't eaten a bite of dinner that I had made and served my family at 6 o'clock and I was starving. Oh, and I had to go to the bathroom in a bad way too.
What can I say? I hear that baby cry, and I put all my needs on hold so I can take care of hers. Even in the middle of the night when I have to pee so bad, I forego it. I jump out of bed, quickly mix a bottle, grab the baby swiftly - yet gently! - and start feeding and rocking her whilst tapping my toes to keep my urine in my bladder.
So is not going to the bathroom really like not giving myself oxygen in the event of a flight emergency? Is my metaphor a little out there? Possibly. But when I have to pee so bad, I am not as patient of a mother. I do not want to sing lullabies. I do not want to snuggle and take an extra few seconds for loving caresses and kisses.
And if I don't eat dinner until after 10 p.m., you bet my family suffers. I become a basket case.
So I am taking an initiative to make sure I do a quickie pee before I do a midnight feeding. I am taking an initiative to eat when I need to. To ask for help when I need it. To shower on schedule. A little self-care goes a long, long way. I am not talking pedis and facials and weekend trips to Lake Powell. That's superfluous. I am talking about the basic building blocks of life (like oxygen!) that many parents sacrifice for their child - proper nutrition, proper rest, and proper hygiene.
So from here on out, I'm putting my mask on first.

But when I have to pee so bad, I am not as patient of a mother. I do not want to sing lullabies. I do not want to snuggle and take an extra few seconds for loving caresses and kisses.
And if I don't eat dinner until after 10 p.m., you bet my family suffers. I become a basket case.
So I am taking an initiative to make sure I do a quickie pee before I do a midnight feeding. I am taking an initiative to eat when I need to. To ask for help when I need it. To shower on schedule. A little self-care goes a long, long way. I am not talking pedis and facials and weekend trips to Lake Powell. That's superfluous. I am talking about the basic building blocks of life (like oxygen!) that many parents sacrifice for their child - proper nutrition, proper rest, and proper hygiene.
So from here on out, I'm putting my mask on first.

Celebrity Boxing promoter Damon Feldman said billionaire soda bottling heir Alki David has offered to write the hefty checks and give another $1 million to charity if the rival R&B stars agree to put up their dukes.
“Obviously they have a grudge. It’s just three 1-minute rounds. No one will get seriously hurt,” Feldman told the Daily News.

Rapper 50 Cent was rear ended by a big rig while he was driving his bulletproof suv on the Long Island Expressway in New York early Tuesday morning. The rapper reportedly almost flipped his vehicle, however he is now at home and ok. Here is what his spokesperson said about the incident:
“He was taken to New York Hospital Queens where he was treated for minor neck and back injuries,” the spokesperson said. “He was released this morning and is doing fine.”

I Want, I Want, I Want!!!
We've been in savings mode for almost two years. We've made a LOT of good progress and we still have miles to go.
But I gotta say, I've been slacking a bit.
I am getting impatient and I really want to switch from savings mode to acquisition mode. :)
This will all probably sound bratty and selfish and ungrateful, but just to get this out of my system, I want to write down everything I have been wanting lately. And I want to preface it all with this: I know I am phenomenally blessed and if nothing changes in my life for the rest of forever, I would be a heckuva happy girl.
New carpet
Wooden blinds
New headboard for my room that doesn't cover the window
Car repairs - my front signals don't work and my right side mirror doesn't work
New counter tops (Formica would be fine)
New pots and pans
New flatware
New table
Patio furniture
Drawer organizers
Jewelry organizers
Repaint and redecorate probably about 50% of my house
And a remodel of the master bedroom, the downstairs bedroom, and well...maybe I should just get a new house. :)
I wonder if it's the fact that I am home all day in my house now that so much about it is driving me crazy?
Back in March, we got a new fridge. Oh man how I hated my old fridge and it finally gave out so I had no choice but to get a new one. Justin also got a small inheritance that worked out to be just the amount we needed for a fridge. And I love it.
It barely, barely fit. There isn't a centimeter of wiggle room on either side of the fridge and Justin and my brother had to remove and raise the above-the-fridge cabinet.
Now if only my carpet would go out so I would be forced to replace it. Hehehe.
And the whole time I've been thinking about this post, I've had the Mary Chapin Carpenter song "Passionate Kisses" going through my head: Shouldn't I have it? Shouldn't I have it? Shouldn't I have all of this and passionate kisses from you?

Supercar - 1991 Tube Bus Train Restored
Is it a train? Is it a Tube? Is it a bus? Yes, It's a SuperCar. So enthused a brilliant ad from 1991 promoting the TravelCard - then called the CapitalCard. Thanks to London Bus & Track, the Supercar has been restored. The combined London Underground carriage / bus / train will be on the streets next month.
The Epping Ongar Railway said "Supercar will be out and about this summer, attending a number of functions and making some surprise appearances… so keep your eyes peeled and cameras ready…. Next week Supercar will be at the Bus Rally on 1st July at North Weald airfield, when there will also be a special shuttle bus linking the railway and Bus Rally, details from the timetables page on our website."
There were a number of posters around at the time advertising the virtues of the CapitalCard (see the one pictured below that I found at Richmond station).
But I never knew that an actual real Supercar had been produced. Hat Tip IanVisits who found that the Epping Ongar Railway had unveiled its appearance again.
