Elite Model Managment Under Drug Arrest

Paris, In the news today is the arrest of Bertrand Hennet, chief executive of Elite World, who has been charged with buying and transporting cocaine, in the latest scandal to hit the industry, reports the Telegraph.

Elite Model Management is house to 800 models including supermodels Gisele Bundchen, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell.

"The president of Elite Model Management, Gerald Marie, said that he was "surprised" by the affair but the ex-husband of Linda Evangelista dismissed the arrest as an "epiphenomenon," saying that Mr Hennet had no hand in the day to day running of the agency. Mr Hennet's father, Bernard, bought a controlling stake in Elite World in 2006 and his son deals plays a purely administrative role. "We see him pass through but he has nothing to do with the models and photos and everything we do here," Mr Marie told Le Parisien.

This is not the first time Elite has been the subject of scandal. In 1999, a controversial BBC documentary filmed Mr Marie offering an undercover reporter sex for money. During the programme, model Rebecca Howard, a finalist in the 1994 "Elite Look of the Year" final, said that she was destroyed by drugs supplied by the fashion industry. Although the documentary was subsequently discredited in part, it sent shock waves throughout the industry" writes the Telegraph.

The Marie Claire Espania blog (translated) adds to the 1999 story in that:

"In 1999, an investigative report by the BBC during Fashion Week in Milan found that the girls are pressured (some with only 13 years) for sex and taking drugs. They even got a recording of the then president of the agency, Gerald Marie, saying that it planned to seduce the winner of the Elite Model Look, where the average age of participants was 15 years."

Laura Halm Biography

As a biography Laura Halm is an American model born into 1989. Halm, a native of Ottawa, Illinois, is known for her sultry pout. She currently resides in New York.

A newcomer to the modeling world Laura Halm was discovered in 2008 while working at a Nordstrom’s. Halm, with light brown hair and blue eyes, stands at 5′9″. She spends her past time cliff jumping.

“It’s a blast! Some people think models are these meek frail skinny little things but they couldn’t be more wrong when it comes to what I love to do outdoors,” Halm explained.

She is currently signed with Elite Model Management in New York.

Elite Model Management is one of the biggest names in the modeling industry and they had a reason to celebrate recently! After Elite’s annual ‘model booth camp,’ the agency’s new faces were ready to hit the runway. And, they had beautiful wooden décor to do exactly that at Manor’s exclusive VIP lounge Stay. The newly-signed models walked a fashion show in front of clients including Factio Magazine/Runway To Retail (yours truly), Seventeen Magazine, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and more. Special guests included Mckey Sullivan (ANTM 2008 Winner) and Nichole Robinson, who are both part of the Elite family.

The dresses showed were by none other than Chicago designer Elise Bergman. The beautifully crafted clothing was executed in a natural light palette with a-symmetric hemlines and the dropped waistlines we love in spring fashion. Jewelry worn was designed by Asia.

Goodie bags were filled up with beauty essentials and gift cards and the after party at Manor was filled with networking. Congratulations girls!

Buffy is gonna be a mom!

Come this fall, Sarah Michelle Gellar, 32, and Freddie Prinze Jr., 33, will be parents according to People magazine.

"They're very excited," a source told the celebrity Web site, adding that the 31-year-old actress is due in the fall.

The couple met in 1997 on the set of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and have been married for six years. This will be their first child.

Gellar played the title role in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Prinze, 33, recently shot the comedy pilot "No Heroics" for ABC.

The couple wed in 2002.

A New Jersey man who is divorcing his wife has accused rock star Bruce Springsteen of having an affair with her.

Arthur Kelly alleges in divorce papers
that his wife, Ann Kelly, “committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, N.J., and Colts Neck, N.J., at various times and places too numerous to mention," - according to the legal documents obtained by Star Magazine.

A publicist for Springsteen, 59, composer of such hits as "Born to Run" and "Dancing in the Dark," did not immediately return calls for comment.

A source tells the mag, "Ann says she and Bruce are just friends, but there have been rumors going around the area for more than a year that they had gotten way too close after meeting at a local gym."

Springsteen, 59, has been married to his second wife, backup singer Patti Scialfa, for 17 years. Reports that he was having an affair with Scialfa began when he was married to his first wife, Julianne Phillips.

jon wilhite in critical condition

Jon Wilhite, 24, also of Manhattan Beach, was reported in critical condition at the University of California Irvine Medical Center in Orange after car crash with Andrew Thomas Gallo. Jon Wilhite has been indentified as the surviving passenger in a car driven by Courtney Stewart that killed her, Nick Adenhart, and a third 27 year old male yet unidentified.

Wilhite is being treated in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Wilhite played baseball from 2004-08 at Cal State Fullerton. Stewart was a friend of Adenhart.

Wilhite, a Fullerton grad, attended Wednesday night's game with friends, watching Adenhart pitch from a suite. Neily said Pearson received his tickets from Brandon Wood, an Angels minor league player.

Wilhite, Adenhart, Pearson and Courtney Frances Stewart, 20, of Diamond Bar went dancing after the game.

Gallo’s minivan crashed into Stewart’s driven Mistubishi. Wilhite was quickly rushed to University of California Irvine Medical Center following the accident and has been in critical condition since last night.

Henry Nigel Pearson, 27, of Manhattan Beach died along with Adenhart in the early morning crash in Fullerton.

Update:3rd Adenhart Crash Victim Identified

The 3rd victim of the tragic car wreck that killed baseball star Nick Adenhart has been identified as 25-year-old Henry Nigel Pearson.

Henry, who was also a baseball enthusiast, was friends with the only survivor from the Mitsubishi -- Jon Wilhite.

According to reports, Pearson was a law student who wanted to be a sports agent.

Former Miss USA Arrested

Former Miss Maryland USA ArrestedA former Miss Maryland is facing drug charges.

According to police in Montgomery County Maryland Tia Shorts was arrested last week on various drug possession and distribution charges.

Shorts was crowned Miss Maryland USA in 2004 and later competed in the Miss USA pageant under that title.

Police say Shorts and her boyfriend were dealing drugs out of their apartment in Germantown, Maryland.

Miss Maryland USA organizers say they lost touch with Shorts after she ended her reign.

Ex Beauty Queen Busted for Intoxicating Qualities

The chick responsible for one of the hottest mugshots we've seen in a while is Miss New Mexico USA 2008 -- taken right after she was popped for driving drunk in Texas yesterday.

Raelene Aguilar was arrested at 3:48 AM by El Paso PD after they originally pulled her over for speeding. They gave her a a field sobriety test, which she failed. She was eventually booked into county jail at 6:00 AM and went before a judge a few hours later. Aguilar was eventually bonded out for $600.

TMZ spoke with the president of the Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart, a bigwig at Miss USA, who says, "She has our deepest sympathies and we're hoping she can make it through this difficult time. She's a good person."

Aguilar's reign as Miss New Mexico USA came to a close at the end of 2008.

UPDATE -- Aguilar's attorney tells TMZ, "Ms. Aguilar does regret the incident, although she denies all allegations ... My client denies that she was speeding and denies failing any field sobriety test, as she did not submit to any such test. Finally, Raelene can state with confidence that she has the unwaivering support of the Miss New Mexico USA Organization."

Just a day after Lindsay Lohan confirmed that she and DJ Samantha Ronson had broken up, the actress says she's feeling "so alone" without Sam by her side.
