LANCASTER SC'S SMALL QUIET TOWN REP IS FADING FAST AS MURDERS AND PROSTITION RISES

Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile calls two murders in his county since the first of the year "unfortunate." "It certainly makes folks more concerned about what's going on. It's my job to make sure it doesn't happen. We have to pick things up and be a little more aggressive when it comes to drugs, gangs and prostitution," Faile said. Last year, Lancaster County only had two murders total. The city has also had two murders since the first of the year. Three of the murders in 2012 have been solved quickly and police say the acts weren't random. "It's unfortunate it's gotten read bad, real soon," Resident Randolph Brooks said. Brooks said he settled in Lancaster after retiring from the military and moving from Philadelphia. Residents say Lancaster is the epitome of small town, quiet southern living. And they want to keep it that way. Signs that say "We Are Lancaster" popped up around town after some residents say a CNN article about the place put them in a bad light. Now with four murders, some say the meaning behind these three words still rings true "I believe the town will rise above it," Brooks said.
